Hey there everyone! Have you seen Ike’s latest video?
In this video, he shares his method and ideas for sharpening and maintaining the edge of your axe. We hope you’ll enjoy and find these tips helpful to keep your Wolf Valley Forge axe in shape and ready for any backwoods adventure!
If you’re interested in the Ceramic Sharpening Rods and Axe Pucks, like Ike uses in the video, you can check them out over under the Sharpeners page. Thank you so much for stopping by the blog. We hope you have a super day!
We hope you’re enjoying this great Tuesday. We’ve had a cool breeze blowing that gives a lovely hint of fall-around-the-corner…
Today I have some pictures to share of two custom Carpenter’s Axes. The one on the left has a Chestnut-dyed Hickory handle with handle Cross-Hatching, Handle Scorching, and a Dark Brown leather sheath. And the Carpenter on the right sports a Chocolate Brown Hickory handle with handle Cross-Hatching and a Dark Brown leather sheath.
You can also see additional pictures and specs for the Carpenter’s Axe model over under the Axe Models page.
Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today. Have a good one!
I wanted to drop in on the blog today and make sure you’ve noticed our newest additions.
First up, we have two available axes up for sale on the Available Now page. Both of these axes feature a bearded bit, Chestnut Hickory handle and a push-button-closure-style leather sheath.
One these axes also has a new option that we’re offering called Grip Rings. This option is similar to Handle Cross-Hatching, and can be added to any of our axe models (be sure to check it out on our Custom Options page). Please feel free to contact us with any questions.
Thank you so much for visiting the blog today. We hope you’re having a great week!
Have you seen our latest product? Well, in case you haven’t, I’d like to introduce all of you to Axe Wax!
Axe Wax is our blend of all-natural wax and oil ingredients, intended to provide an all-around protective finish for your axes.
You can apply it on the head, handle or the leather sheath of your axe, and it creates a waxy film to protect from the elements. Whether your axe accompanies you on regular backwoods adventures, camping trips, or sits in a drawer, Axe Wax will help to keep its luster.
Axe Wax is very easy to use and apply to your axe and sheath. It can be rubbed on periodically and buffed with a cloth, or applied and left to create a protective film for extreme conditions. For axe storage, simple apply the Axe Wax and rub down to a thin coating. Once you’re ready to use your axe again, simply remove excess wax with a little oil on a rag, and your axe is ready to hit the woods with you again!
And by the way, Axe Wax is also skin-safe! To add one of these spiffy little 2-ounce tins to your cart, simply head over the the Axe Wax page, or mention it in the axe order form, to receive a tin with your axe!
It’s been such a beautiful week here. We sure have been enjoying the cooler temperatures (which also makes for some nice forging weather)!
Are you all prepared for Dad’s Day coming up on Sunday? We wanted to let you know, that there’s still time to order a last minute gift from Wolf Valley Forge – and that gift is an Axe Certificate!
If you would like to order an axe for your dad, but weren’t able to get it ordered in time, you might consider giving him an axe certificate! Here’s how it works:
Order any of our axe models by Saturday (the 15th) at 5:00 p.m. (CST), and write in the “Custom Options” section of the order form (or send me an email) to let us know this is a gift. Once we have received the order, we will email you an Axe Certificate, which includes the axe model it is for and when he can expect to receive his finished axe.
All you have to do is print it out, fill in the “To” and “From”, stick it in an envelope, and it’ll be ready for gifting!
The certificate above is shown as an example of what you’ll receive. Please note that the “For” section will be customized with the type of axe that you’ve selected.
Thank you so much for your business, and please feel free to send us an email if you have any questions. Have a great day out there!
Have you seen our latest addition at Wolf Valley Forge? I would love to introduce you to the Puck Pouch!
The Puck Pouch is a super cool, waxed canvas bag, made to fit and carry one of our Axe Pucks! Slip in your Puck, fold the flap, secure the tie closure, and it’s ready to drop in your pack or pocket for ready-use.
One plus to having a bag for your Puck is to keep it from scratching other items in your pack or potentially getting chipped. And one other perk: if you’re using water on your Puck for sharpening, just slip it down in a waxed-canvas Puck Pouch, drop it in your pack, and you won’t have to worry so much about it getting other items wet!
We have three colors to choose from, so now you can order a Puck Pouch to match your Wolf Valley Forge Axe handle or Ceramic Sharpening Rod: Natural, Chestnut, and Chocolate Brown!
We’re super excited to offer these Puck Pouches to all of you, designed and made right here at Wolf Valley Forge! To add one of these to your pack, simply order them with an Axe Puck over on the Sharpeners page, or select them in the “Add-Ons” section of the axe order form when placing your axe order to get a matching Puck Pouch.
Oh, and don’t forget to check out this introductory video with Ike!
Thanks so much for stopping by, and we hope you all have a fantastic Friday!
We hope you’re all and enjoying this Summer season. Things have been pretty busy around here, and you may have noticed that the blog has been a little quiet lately. But we’re back and thank you so much for stopping by!
Ike currently has six different axe models that he makes, ranging in purpose and application from bigger jobs to small hand work. The models are The Canoe Axe, The Bush Axe, The Carpenter’s Axe, The Trail Axe (in two handle lengths), The Chipper, and The Timber Pup. You may be wondering about each model, what they’re used for, what’s the difference, and which model is best suited for your need.
For any of you who would like a closer comparison look at each Wolf Valley Forge axe model, I’m so excited to share a video with you today! In this video, Ike tells about each axe and what application they’re best suited for. We hope you enjoy!
Thanks again, and hope you have a wonderful, safe weekend!

I hope you’ve been enjoying this beautiful springtime. Things are greening up, flowers are blooming, and it’s about time to plant the garden. One of these weekends I’m hoping to get out on a canoe trip, but for now I’ve been taking advantage of these beautiful days to get lots of forging in.
I wanted to take a moment to say thank you to all of my customers. I so appreciate your enthusiastic business and support! I love getting notes and pictures from all of you, like this one from Mr. Brian H. Thank you so much for your feedback, Mr. Brian!
