We’re really excited to offer our own line of Wolf Valley Forge Splitting Wedges!
Our splitting wedges are made out of 4142 Chromoly steel, the same tough stuff we use for our axes. The heat treat process makes the steel hardened and durable to standup to all that hammering. (Because after all, a splitting wedge’s job is basically just getting hammered on all the time. :))
Our wedges weigh in around 2 3/4lbs, and measure 7-inches long, with a 2 3/4-inch blade edge. (weights and measurements are approximate) The edge is sharpened lightly to separate wood grain, and the wedge tapers up for easy splitting of wet or dry logs, using a short hammer or sledge hammer against the striking face.
Each wedge comes with a canvas drawstring pouch for storage and protection! These bags are sturdy and feature a leather strip sewn in the inside bottom for extra support against the wedge edge.
