Today I’m popping in to share a closer look at the Canoe Axe. The Canoe Axe is the big boy of the current Wolf Valley Forge models.
Its overall length is approximately 26-inches, and its head weight is just shy of 2 lbs., making it ready for most jobs in the woods. It can handle most any felling and splitting tasks, but it’s also light enough to be carried or packed to where you need it.
These three custom Canoe Axes all feature Chestnut Hickory handles and Standard Pack Axe Sheaths with Dark Brown leather.
For more information, pricing, and pictures you can check out the Canoe Axe model’s page. Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today!
It’s a cozy, rainy day here, and I’m popping in to share some pictures from a fairly recent Trail Axe picture session.
This Trail Axe features a Chocolate Brown Hickory handle.
This particular one also carries a Standard Belt Sheath, in the standard Dark Brown color option.
You may also notice that we’ve recently updated some of our models pages with brand new pictures!! Check out the Trail Axe, Carpenter’s Axe, Bush Axe, and Timber Pup pages for new looks!
Thank you for stopping by the blog today! We hope you have a safe, productive week out there.
Hope you’re all staying warm this chilly January. We’ve had a cold snap here, and a bit of snowy flurries yesterday.
This little Kephart recently got to take a trip into the Sipsey Wilderness area in Alabama. This area has many hiking trails across thousands of acres of woods with creeks, waterfalls, and well…wilderness. 😉
The destination on this particular day was the Big Tree, reportedly the largest tree in Alabama. And that tree is big!! It’s a Yellow Poplar, approximately 150 feet tall, and it takes about 4 grown men to reach around it.
Just to give you a scale, that little Kephart has a foot-long handle. That’s a large timber right there! 😉
The Big Tree is nestled in a big hollow, surrounded by a variety of evergreen bushes and trees, as well as two tall waterfalls spilling over from the top of the ridge. There’s also a large rock overhang, which made for a great spot for a fire and lunch underneath.
And of course the Kephart got to do its job there.
It’s amazing how many places of beauty there are right in our backyard or just a short day trip away. This one was definitely worth it!
Hope you have a great week out there, and thanks for stopping by!
Whether your day was white or just bright (like ours…the above snowfall happened earlier in the month ;), we hope it was very special. Thank you everyone for your support!!
It’s that time of year again, and Christmas is fast approaching.

Hope you’re having a great start to your week! Things have been a bit busy here, trying to get everyone’s Christmas axes finished up and shipped out in time for Christmas.
Today I’m here to give you a little closer look at the Wolf Valley Forge Kephart Reproduction Hatchet model. The Kephart is based off of the beloved little hatchet that the great outdoor writer Horace Kephart wrote about in his book, Camping and Woodcraft.
Ike’s reproduction of the Kephart “little trick” features a Hickory handle (approximately 12-inches) and a leather sheath with a pull-cord closure.
The specs on the Kephart are around: Head Length: 4-inches Cutting Edge: 2 ½-inches Head Weight: 8-ounces
While Ike’s Kephart standard is a Natural Hickory, it can also feature a Chocolate Brown or Chestnut Hickory handle. We think Mr. Drew’s custom Kephart turned out super cool, with a Chocolate Brown Hickory handle, and the cross-hatching custom option.
The Kephart is a super handy, (might I say cute?) and traditional addition to any backwoodsman’s tools. For more pictures and pricing, you can check out the Kephart’s model page.
In fact, Ike recently released a brand new video giving you a look at the Kephart in use! We hope you’ll enjoy watching.
Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today! Feel free to email us, or leave a comment on this post, if you have any questions. Hope you have a wonderful rest of your Monday!
It’s December time again. Hope you’re all enjoying this season.
I wanted to let you know about a brand new product we have available at Wolf Valley Forge! It’s the Canvas Haversacks!
These bags are made with outdoorsmen in mind, right here at Wolf Valley Forge, USA.
First, you have the Go-Bag. This canvas sack is approximately 10-inches wide and 10-inches deep, plus the 6-inch flop-over top. It comes in a brown color, with a strong cotton webbing strap and leather tabs (stitched on by hand). The strap allows for a 24-inch hang, great for on-the-shoulder, or cross-body carry.
Next we have The Reenactor’s Bag. This sack is made of a heavier canvas, and hand waxed and hand dyed with a Black Walnut dye, giving it a super traditional look! It is approximately 10-inches wide and 11 1/2-inches deep, with a 5 1/2-inch flop-over top.
Whether you’re looking for a bag to carry your hunting or every day essentials, a traditional sack to accompany you on your reenacting adventures, or a Christmas gift for an outdoorsman, you can check out these made in the USA haversacks over on the Available Now page!
We currently have two Go-Bags and one Reenactor’s Bag available.

Today I’m here to give you a few closer looks at a Trail Axe. The Trail Axe is the middle in the sizing line-up of the Wolf Valley Forge models. It comes in either a 15-inch and 16-inch handle options, and has a head weight of approximately 1lb. 2- to 3-oz.
The Trail Axe is a very versatile, multi-use belt axe. Whether you’re splitting kindling, clearing a campsite, or quartering large game, this model is a great choice.
This Trail Axe is shown with a Chestnut-dyed Hickory handle, a Standard Dark Brown Leather Belt Sheath, and the Handle Cross-Hatching and Lanyard Hole upgrades.
