Today I’m here to give you a little closer look at the Wolf Valley Forge Kephart Reproduction Hatchet model. The Kephart is based off of the beloved little hatchet that the great outdoor writer Horace Kephart wrote about in his book, Camping and Woodcraft.

Ike’s reproduction of the Kephart “little trick” features a Hickory handle (approximately 12-inches) and a leather sheath with a pull-cord closure.

While Ike’s Kephart standard is a Natural Hickory, it can also feature a Chocolate Brown or Chestnut Hickory handle. We think Mr. Drew’s custom Kephart turned out super cool, with a Chocolate Brown Hickory handle, and the cross-hatching custom option.

Hello everyone,

Happy November! Today we have another video to share with all of you. In this video, Ike gives you a look at the leather shoulder rigs that he makes and offers to go with the WVF axes.

These holsters are great for backwoodsmen, horse riders, hikers, and people who are wanting to carry their axe hands-free. And Ike can make these rigs for the big Canoe Axe all the way down to the little Timber Pup!

Hello everyone and happy Friday!

We hope you’re all and enjoying this Summer season. Things have been pretty busy around here, and you may have noticed that the blog has been a little quiet lately. But we’re back and thank you so much for stopping by!

Ike currently has six different axe models that he makes, ranging in purpose and application from bigger jobs to small hand work. The models are The Canoe Axe, The Bush Axe, The Carpenter’s Axe, The Trail Axe (in two handle lengths), The Chipper, and The Timber Pup. You may be wondering about each model, what they’re used for, what’s the difference, and which model is best suited for your need.

With the introduction of my brand-new Carpenter’s Axe model, I’m so excited to share with all of you a short video in which I demonstrate a little further the specs and use of this axe.

It was really fun to get out and make this video. Of all things as soon as we got out there it started pouring down rain, but besides getting everything a little wet, a little rain never hurt anybody, right?
