First off, each Bush Axe comes standard with the Standard Pack Axe sheath, made of sturdy, quality leather. It has a snap-closure, and is held together by stout copper rivets and burrs. Super cool looking {shown below in a Rust-color}!

Above is the Extra-D-Ring Pack Sheath. This sheath is like the Standard Pack sheath, but souped up with two brass D-rings. This makes it easy to strap your Bush Axe to your pack or saddle, and be ready for the woods.

Another Custom Option is the Shoulder Rig. The Shoulder Rig features a leather sheath for the axe head, which clips onto an adjustable leather strap for putting over your shoulder or wearing cross-body. This keeps your axe off of your belt, but ready for long carry. {please note: the Shoulder Rig above is pictured with a Chestnut Hickory Trail Axe with Cross-Hatching}

The Bush Axes above are sporting Standard and Extra-D Pack Sheaths. All the sheaths also come with a color option of Dark Brown or Rust colored leather {one Rust is pictured above}, so you have your choice for a super cool combo.

Our axes come with American Hickory handles {cut, shaped and sanded here in-shop}, and each axe model comes standard with one of the three handle colors above. Top to bottom: Chocolate Brown Hickory, Chestnut Hickory, or Natural Hickory. It’s your choice! 🙂

This axe has an American Hickory handle, which Ike has shaped, sanded and fit right to the axe head. It’s also been oil finished, to give that added protection to the wood {not to mention that classic look that makes those grains shine}.

We thought we’d do something a little different on the blog here, and do a model spotlight series! Over the several posts, we’re going to be talking about the Bush Axe, sharing some up-close pictures, and giving you an idea on some of the custom options that we offer. We hope you’ll enjoy!

To kick it off, here are a few specs on the Bush Axe:

{please note that all of Ike’s axes are made unique and special, so yes, measurements do sometimes vary slightly. :)}

Handle Length: 21-inches
Head Length: 6 1/4-inches
Cutting Edge: 3 3/4-inches
Head Weight: about 1 lb. 8 oz.

The Bush Axe is such a multi-use axe! It’s small enough to easily pack along, but it’s also ready-set and large enough to conquer most backwoods, trapline, camping, or homestead tasks thrown its way.

The heads are forged from 4142 Chromoly steel. Oh and yes, the Bush Axe comes with multiple custom handle and sheath options, which we will be exploring in upcoming posts, so stay tuned!
