Happy July!! With the dawn of this new month, we’re super excited to introduce a new axe model, the Hammer Poll Axe! We’re running this model as a “July Special”, which means it’s only available for ordering during the month of July.
The Hammer Poll Axe has all the normal features and style of our Wolf Valley Forge lineup, combined with the uniqueness of an extended (hardened) poll, and an octagonal, straight handle.
Happy Wednesday, folks! To cut right to the chase, we are so excited to release to you our brand-new additions at Wolf Valley Forge!
And that is…our Sipsey Pack Series!
Our new line of canvas packs are carefully designed for your backwoods adventures (there’s even something for the urban work or day tripper), and we can’t wait to hear what ya’ll think of them!
You can check out the Sipsey Long Hauler and the Sipsey Adventure Pack over on Our Pack page.
Happy Tuesday, folks! We hope you’re having a great start to your week. We’ve got a beautiful blanket of snow here in Alabama, which has been a treat for us!
We are so excited to introduce to you our 2024 release: The ProCarver and his little brother, The Mini ProCarver!
You can check out their brand new page over HERE, and please be sure to check back for more photos here in the days to come!
We can’t wait to hear what ya’ll think of them! Thank you so much for stopping by the blog!
It’s always a joy to add a new member to the Wolf Valley Forge lineup! Each axe brings a special element to the camp, so to speak. If you haven’t met each of our models yet, we’d love to give you a quick introduction! (you can always get to know them better by visiting each model page, or by browsing through the blog)
Let’s start with the big guys.
The Camp Axe is our largest model, with a head weighing in at 2.5lbs. and a 28-inch handle. It’s ready for some real swinging!
The Large Double Bit comes in second place in size, with a 2.5lb. head and a 26-inch handle. It combines classic Double Bit-style with Wolf Valley Forge-style, and this one’s ready for the job!
The Canoe Axe has a 2lb. head and a 26-inch handle. It’s a moderate size for swinging and it’s ready for a big job!
While the big guys are perfect for very large daily jobs, the Bush Axe is really a perfect fit for semi-large jobs around the camp or homestead. It’s got a head weight of about 1lb.8oz. and a 21 inch handle.
The Carpenter’s Axe is just smaller (20-inch handle) than the Bush Axe, and just as versatile, but it’s crowning feature is that distinct straight bit. It’s even the spoon carver’s friend!
The Trekker Axe is a very versatile axe with a sleek design and an 18-inch handle. It’s an excellent choice for camp life, clearing shooting lanes, etc.
And then there’s the Trail Axe. It’s the largest of our “Belt Axe” category, and one we’ve coined the camper’s friend. This axe is a super handy size, with a 15-inch handle and around 1lb. 4oz. of head weight.
The Chipper is our medium “Belt Axe” and is a very pleasant axe to use. It has a head weight of around 1lb. 2oz., and a handle length of 13-inches.
The Timber Pup is such a happy little hand/belt axe. Its compact size makes it super handy to pack and use at the campsite. Its head weight is around 13- to 14-ounces, and the handle length is around 11-inches.
The Nessmuk Reproduction is inspired by George Washington Sears’ idea of a double blade hatchet. Our Nessmuk has a fully functional double bit head (weighing about 1lb. 4oz.), and several handle length options.
Our Kephart Reproduction is inspired by Horace Kephart’s “little trick”. It has a head weight of about 8oz. and a handle length of around 12-inches.
Don’t forget, you can find more photos and information about each model by clicking on the photos on the Axe Models page.
If you have any questions about a specific model, please don’t hesitate to reach out with an email or a phone call. We’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback on our axes, and we look forward to adding more to the line-up in the future, Lord willing. Thank you for supporting our small USA-made company!

We are so excited to introduce to you our newest addition – the Wolf Valley Forge Splitting Wedge!
These Wedges are made from tough 4142 Chromoly steel, and shaped and hardened to split those logs and get the job done. They weigh approximately 2 3/4lbs.
For storage and protection, they each come with a spiffy canvas drawstring pouch, complete with a leather piece sewn in the bottom, to protect the canvas from the wedge edge.
We can hardly wait to hear what ya’ll think of these new Splitting Wedges! We’re offering a very limited quantity of them ready-made with our release HERE, but after they’re gone, you can still place an order HERE!
Thank you so much for checking them out, and please be sure to swing by again soon!
Howdy folks! We’re so excited to introduce our brand-new model: The Nessmuk!
This little Double Bit Axe is inspired by the hatchet that George Washington Sears (also known as Nessmuk) wrote about in his book, Woodcraft and Camping. Mr. Sears was famous for an illustration of his three preferred outdoor tools, consisting of a belt knife, a pocket knife, and a double bit. We’re excited to have our own Wolf Valley Forge reproduction of this small axe.
You can head over to its model page for more information, pictures, Nessmuk history, or to place an order for your own!
And today we are also offering one of our Nessmuk Axes on the Available Now page! This axe is ready-made, and features a Chocolate Brown Hickory handle.
Thank you all so much for looking, and for your interest in each of our axes! We would love to hear from YOU, and know what you think about our new model.
Happy New Year, folks! We hope you’re having a wonderful start to your year so far. We’ve already had snow here, which is a rare and beautiful treat in the southern states.
As we’ve closed out 2021 and now dive into 2022 we have some things to share today! First off, I’d like to announce that Karmen and I welcomed our first baby girl in 2021! We are so thankful for God’s blessing of this bundle of joy in our lives, and are thoroughly enjoying being her parents.
For a little fun fact – in honor of baby Kristen being born, I decided to do a little something special on each Wolf Valley Forge axe. On each axe made after she was born in July until the end of 2021, I switched the angle of the metal wedge in the top of the handle. After the first of 2022, the wedge went back to the original angle. So all of you folks who have an axe made during that time, you can know you have one of a special collection, in honor of my little girl’s arrival.
Left Shows the Kristen Collection Angle; Right is the Regular Angle
And to close out 2021, we’re also offering some 2021 cancellations as Available Axes today!! These three axes are ready to go. This “clear out” features a Canoe Axe, a Trail Axe, and a Timber Pup, all stamped with the 2021 model date. You can hurry on over to the Available Now page to see if they’re still there…
And one more thing, we’ve got a 2022 Mug design! Just up on the site today, and with an introductory sale price! They’re big, they’re ceramic, they’re brown and beige, and they’re ready to join your mornings. 😉 (they’ve even got a fun saying on the back) You can head over HERE to order yours today. Thank you for supporting our brand!
Once again a special THANK YOU to all of our customers in 2021, and thank you for being here with us in 2022! We’re honored to be a part of your adventures, and honored to get to build USA-made axes for you. Happy New Year!
