“I received it yesterday and took it out for a stroll this morning. Wow what a magnificent tool! When I first held it I could instantly tell this was going to be my new favorite. The weight is perfect and it’s something you could swing all day without getting tired. I sharpen knives with a nice guided sharpening system and this hatchet is as sharp if not sharper than any knife I’ve done. I’m very excited to call this mine and it will be something used and passed on for generations.”

Ike: Just a quick note to let you know how pleased I am with the axe you made for me.  The quality is fantastic, and the sheath is as nice a leather sheath as I’ve seen. The axe has already been put into action and will be a tool for many years to come.

I was out taking an evening stroll around the place, Canoe Axe in hand, appreciating the feel of the thing, remembering all the hard work it has helped me accomplish and thought I would send you a note saying such! 

My two favorite material objects of this world are my Victorinox “Farmer” pocket knife and my Wolf Valley Forge Canoe Axe made just for me by Ike Bullington!

In fact, we’re hosting our Wolf Valley Forge Photo Contest once again this year!!!

For those of you new here, here’s how it works…

This contest is not about photography skills, but it is about sending in your tasteful photos for an entry into our drawing for a Wolf Valley Forge Axe, shipped free to your US address! That’s right, you could win an axe here!

We have several categories for your photos, and we will be the judge of how many entries you receive in the random drawing, based on the type of picture(s) you submit. So, here are your options…

  • A photo of your Wolf Valley Forge axe. (1 entry)
  • A photo of you and your hunting trophy. (1 entry)
  • A photo of your Wolf Valley Forge axe with its work (examples – a tree it felled, cutting kindling, a camp setting it assisted with, etc.) (2 entries)

Cell phone photos are welcome! Please do try to make them clear, not blurry, but no professional photography skills required. We just want your photos! 🙂

The fine print…1. Please only send one photo per time/setting/event. You can send multiple pictures, but they need to be from different times. 2. Please specify if you don’t want your picture posted on the Wolf Valley Forge site. We may not post every picture, but we have disclosure to, unless otherwise noted. 3. Preferably photos should be fairly recent, at least within the last couple years. 4. International entries are welcome, but shipping charges will apply. Thank you! 5. Last year’s Photo Contest Winner isn’t able to win again this year, sorry! But we’d still love to see your photo adventures and share them on the website!

“Mr. Ike, Today I decided it was time to submit a testimonial for the Bush Axe you built for me after a year of use. Everyone writes that you send us a work of art. They are not lying, this is a very functional work of art. The craftsmanship is beyond any expectations I had. The edge was razor sharp out of the box. I have now used this tool for a year and what a pleasure it is to use. It lives in my truck so I am never without it. The heat treat for edge retention is perfect. The ceramic puck and your instructions for edge maintenance work great. It has been on every camping and hunting trip for my seasons here in the Pacific Northwest. I was almost disappointed at how well it held the razor edge because I wanted to use the sharpening puck I purchased with the axe. The coffee cup is in my hand almost every morning. I have enjoyed it so much that when I hit your page to write this I placed an order for another axe. Now I am looking forward to adding a Chipper for backpacking trips next year.”
