The Trail Axe. The camper’s friend. This axe is a great choice to bring along on any backwoods adventure! With its medium size and easy to handle weight, the Trail Axe is great for splitting kindling, clearing out a spot to pitch your tent, blazing trails, or quartering large game. It is surprising how large a tree can easily be felled with an axe of this size!
The Trail Axe comes with a 15-inch overall handle length (may vary slightly). Heads are approximately 6-inch in length, with a cutting edge that’s around 3 3/8-inch. The head is handforged from 4142 Chromoly steel, heat treated to hold an edge and be extremely tough. The poll is also hardened and can be used as a hammer. The size of this axe makes it very enjoyable to swing!
The head weight on this model is about 1lb. 4oz. The axe weight overall (with sheath) is right around 2lb.
Handles are made from American Hickory, and you can choose from Natural, Chestnut-dyed or Chocolate Brown color options, all being oil finished. (pictured above in Chocolate Brown)
Each Trail Axe comes with a handmade leather belt sheath, made especially for the axe that it comes with. Please make sure to note when you’re ordering if you would like a standard belt sheath, or choose from one of our other custom options.
For a cool way to keep up with your Trail Axe year model, each head is stamped with the year that the axe was finished.
